understandとappreciate
Guided tours can help you better understand and appreciate places and landmarks.
understandは「理解する」、appreciateは「感謝する」と思っていたのだけど…
appreciateも実は「理解する」という意味があるそうなんですが、「価値を評価する」というところが本来の意味らしくて、転じて例文では「鑑賞する」ということになるそう。
